Treat the 9th Annual Hydrangea Festival like a garden party full of fun
surprizes, international presentations, envirommental displays and celebrate
life with many.
The Kiwanis Club of White Rock is going to be putting on a Pancake breakfast for up to 500 people at the start of the parade. They will set up at 128th St., and 16th Ave., at 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sept. 8th, 2007.
Then the parade begins at 11: a.m. It continues down to Crescent Park to end inside the park at 26B Ave., and 128th St.
Our Floral parade decorating workshops go on, Wed., Aug. 29th, 2007, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Place: Garden Works, at 21st Ave., and 128th St., S. Surrey, B.C. Free refreshments and fun workshops for all age groups. Learn how to decorate bikes, strollers, cars, trailers, floats, and even costumes, with real flowers and greenery.
On Friday, Sept. 7th, 2007 Floral float and parade decorating goes on at Garden Works, on 21st Ave., and 128th St., in S. Surrey from 3p.m. to 9p.m.
The public are welcome to view the decorating, and are invited to bring all types of flowers, cedar cuttings from hedges, ivy, and especially Hydrangea flowers. Bring the flower and greenery donations in garbage bags and boxes, for easy transporation. Free refreshments are provided to all volunteers and helpers. Phone 604-538-0598 for more info.
Anyone in schools, college, etc., wanting credit for volunteer hours, can find them in the first week of school by helping out at the Hydrangea Festival. People donating 6 hours or more of volunteer time will also get a new Festival T-Shirt, donated by Canadian Tire, of South Pointe Mall, in South Surrey. Please RSVP as soon as possible, in order to do the type of volunteering best suited to the volunteer. Call 604-538-0598.

The Surrey Hydrangea Festival's mission is to celebrate life
by promoting floral festivals, to serve the community, and to
contribute to the enhancement of tourism, education, health,
and environmental concerns as a non-profit society.
It's main functions are:
1. To promote local tourism in British Columbia, focusing
on the region hosting the Festival, this year the region is Whalley BC;
2. To become one of North America's leading floral attractions,
next to: The Portland Rose Festival
& the Rose Parade®;
3. To promote the growing of the Hydrangea plant for recreational
and commercial purposes throughout BC and Canada;
4. To promote the advancement of knowledge and research of the Hydrangea
plant;
5. To organize festivals, parades, exhibitions, seminars, and conferences
on Hydrangeas, along with the environmental concerns for all plants
and materials of nature.
