Surrey Hydrangea
Vancouver Fun Zone Here's one remedy to correct
the no-fun zone, for all of Greater Vancouver, B.C. A new concept for Canadian
festivals has arrived in Cloverdale's Rodeo Grounds at the new Millennium
Amphitheatre. This year the Surrey Hydrangea Blossom Festival is a 1 day event, being held on We get together about 2-3 days prior to the event to decorate the floats! AND...it is a "Happening!". We are inviting all of Greater Vancouver to donate their cut flowers, hedge cuttings, and hydrangea shrub (cut flowers), to help everyone in our floral parade to decorate their floral float entries. Everyone can deliver, or have pick-ups done, to donate their flowers. Thousands of flowers are expected on the Cloverdale Rodeo Grounds at l76th St. and 62A Ave., in Surrey. Volunteers are also invited, to help decorate these amazing parade floats for the :: Check Festival Date :: parade on site. We are thrilled to have Cloverdale's Chamber of Commerce, and the Surrey Chamber of Commerce welcome us with open arms and loads and loads of support. For 4 years, we have been building and growing with many activities within all of Surrey. Our Floral Parade is expected to be 1 hour long. Gary Turner, the former PNE Parade Float Builder, thinks our parade will become one of the largest in Greater Vancouver. We hope to edify the PNE, PGA Golfing, and so much more happening in August, in Greater Vancouver, so the public and tourists can enjoy themselves in city-wide action. If 100,000 people attend the PNE, the Symphony of Fire indicates there is still another 150,000 people looking for something to do. This new Hydrangea Blossom Festival should offer an alternative. Festival activities include music by North of Nashville Promotions, and local talent with their own CD's, and more. Children's games, misting tent, arts and crafts, food, post parade float displays, and booths, are all a part of this exciting Hydrangea Blossom Festival. Festival hours are: 10: am - 9:30 pm. BCTV has featured us on their news hour shows with the Floral Parade. Rogers Community TV did a feature story and ran it with their PNE stories They are coming back to do TV stories on us and our Floral Parade, again this year. Yes, I agree with Julie Smith, in your article. Street festivals and related activities bring vibrancy to an urban environment. People are already at work on the donation or articles, calling in for pick-up of their floral related donations. We are growing and growing! Let's tell all of Greater
Vancouver, B.C., and Canada about this amazing festival. The Americans
are also coming from Washington, Oregon, and Penn. to help us. We are being mentored and helped by Pasadena's Tournament of Roses Parade Float Builders, and Portland, Oregon's Grand Floral Parade, Float Builders. They want to encourage us to be the 3rd City on the mainland of N. America, to have a spectacular Floral Parade. They told us "Start small, get the grass roots people on board, and everything else will grow!" We are doing that. It's
working awesomely! We need to tell Vancouver we are helping them to be
a "fun city!"
